The Cognitive Science and Psycholinguistics Lab (CSPL) was established in February 2021 at the Central Department of Linguistics, Tribhuvan University. It is the first laboratory of its kind in Nepal, bringing experimental cognitive science and psycholinguistics to the study of Nepal's multilingual population.

Research Focus

CSPL studies how bilingual and multilingual speakers process, activate, select, and manage multiple languages, and what these processes reveal about cognition more broadly.

Current areas of interest include multilingual lexical processing, cognitive control, literacy and cognition, language acquisition, and cross-linguistic variation.

The lab uses experimental approaches including behavioural methods, mouse-tracking, and eye-tracking.

Collaborations

CSPL has collaborated with researchers and institutions in Nepal and internationally on projects related to multilingual language processing, cognition, experimental methods, and cross-linguistic research.
